While reading a story, I was inspired by a scene where a character uses a volcano on Mars as a last attempt to wipe out overwhelming odds. Here's my interpretation of what might have happened. I'm not satisfied with the characters face, but everything else turned out quite nicely I think.
One of the hardest things to find was reference for lava. I wanted lava waves, but most pictures are more like explosions. I ended up using Disney's Fantasia as guide. Hard to imagine all that was hand drawn.
EDIT: So I've tried to upload some progress pictures, but I'm currently in China, so logging in and uploading is difficult. I'll try to get more pictures up when I head back to the states
EDIT 2: I've finally been able to upload some process pictures!

Worbla and Craft foam practice
Here's a small. little project I started before heading to China for a teaching job. I love cosplay, but its kind of difficult to cosplay supplies and tools to travel over seas so I might be putting a hold on cosplay projects.
As for this one though, I just wanted to see what I could do without a sketch or a costume to copy from. I'm pretty pleased so far and want to, eventually, make something full-body with this.
And my lovely girlfriend is the model... the glove is actually formed around her tiny hand so no use trying to try it on me.

Red Riding Hood
Here is model Fae that used Wolfen Jaeger for Anime Expo 2014. It was her idea for a Red with an axe and we worked on the design together

I thought this would look really sick because it would be like using real straps. its kind of a pain to get on a off |

testing out how to attach the sword to the ridiculous yellow belt |

paint job! took super long but had a lot of fun |

Wolfen Jaeger
I know its a dumb name, but its the only thing I could think of.
Anyway, so here's another project done for Anime Expo. This one is for a friend who wants to do a version of Little Red Riding Hood Wolf Slayer. She asked me to do only the weapon, so when I see the rest of the costume, I'll be sure to post it.
I was given a lot of freedom on this project because this was for an OC. It started off as a very simple sketch, but as I put more work into it, it became more special to me. I'll actually keep this one so I put some unexpected but not un-welcomed details into it.
Also, another practice with fiberglass. Did a little bit of research and realized that I'm using the worst type of resin for this kind of thing... Perfect. So, for my next project, I'll try some other stuff called Kleer Kote.... hmm

same stuff for the other side |

so many clamps |

so, clamping worked, but it also warped the hell out of the thing, so what you don't see is hours of sanding and correcting |

the edges are lined with fiberglass so they don't crack if hit |

had some fun with leather. some some light colored leather and dyed it. |
